CODE NAME: ROOSTER
REAL NAME: Clive Fuller
OCCUPATION: MERCENARY
AFFILIATIONS: Heavy Metal

ORIGIN: Like many military institutions world wide, the United States Army attempts at creating a “super soldier”.  The last and most costly one cost the lives of nearly a hundred men and produced only four individuals with paranormal abilities.  Bobby Fields-Extreme Soldier-was one.

Clive Fuller was another.

Bobby, Clive and two others formed a special squad employed by the military in numerous situations that were regarded too dangerous-i.e. suicidal-for conventional and even unconventional forces.  They were very effective until a mission ended in disaster and two of their squad died.  A hearing found Clive and Bobby innocent and both were honorably discharged, in part to help cover up the fiasco.  The fact that Clive’s “special condition” was cost prohibitive also contributed to this decision  Clive found himself at loose ends, but unlike his former squad mate he decided not to become a super hero.  He decided to turn a buck with his talents.  Not that he had much choice; his unique condition was expensive to maintain.

Over the next several years Clive worked as a low-key mercenary, engaging in numerous missions in Croatia, Sierra Leone, Chechnya and any other hot spot where his services were needed.  The problem was, he wasn’t making very much money.  He was over thirty years old and he knew his retirement depended upon a serious of big scores.  That was when he was approached by the remnants of Heavy Metal.

HM had taken a beating in ’97 during an ill-advised attempt to wipe out High Justice once and for all, and they were looking for fresh blood.  Clive agreed, but on his terms; namely, that he named team leader.  Reluctantly the team agreed.  Heavy Metal was re-forged, with a new leader and new purpose!

Currently Rooster resides in The Hole after his team's stunning defeat at the hands of The Vindicators.  When out of his cell he wears a bulky and deliberately fragile containment suit that insures he behaves.

POWERS: Clive’s body was transformed into “living plasma”, hence he is sentient energy.  He wears a containment suit to help keep himself in one piece and to protect others.  As living plasma he generates a large amount of light and heat.  He can control his energy output from a couple hundred degrees to several thousand.

Clive has learned how to manipulate his own energy to create a variety of effects up and down the EM spectrum.  He can melt metal, cause an electro-magnetic pulse, tune in on radio waves, see through walls with x-rays, etc.  He has had fifteen years of practice and is very dangerous.

Clive is sensitive to the flow of various forms of energy; he can sense radio waves, heat patterns and electrical current.

Clive is vulnerable to conditions that cause high rates of conductivity, such as extreme cold, salt water, etc. Whenever he runs low on energy he can replenish it by absorbing solar radiation or electrical power.

Clive’s physical strength is only above normal, although he needs the containment suit as mean to employ the strength.

SKILLS: Clive is a skilled tactician, and is an expert with numerous firearms and personal support weapons as well as demolitions.  He has rudimentary skills in electronics and mechanics and has become especially adept at repairing his containment suit.

EQUIPMENT: Clive wears a containment suit that has been specially designed to contain and harness his energy.  It is made from state of the art plastics and allows and is highly heat-resistant to heat and pressure.  Special vents in the shins and forearms allow him to release bolts of energy both for offense and for flight (Clive weighs nothing, while his armor is very light).  The armor was designed with stealth in mind, so it is relatively quiet despit it’s bulk.  The suit can self-seal minor breaches, but he carries numerous emergency patches just in case.  The current suit is the fourth one in the series; each one has become smaller and more efficient.

Clive always goes into the field loaded for bear with the latest in personal armaments.

NOTE: Clive chose the name Rooster because of the lyrics of the Alice In Chains song: “He aint gonna die!”
