NAME: Dr. TERESA KINKAID
ALIASES: Special K,
Princess Premenstrual, TKO,
etc.
AFFILIATIONS: Former representative for Kelloggs
BACKGROUND: Once there was a child prodigy named
Teresa Kinkaid, a girl genius who was an expert at chess, a
card-carrying member of MENSA who earned her first degree at the age of
twelve. Her future looked absolutely wonderful until the day she
discovered she was diagnosed with a debilitating illness known as
Nevison's syndrome, a disease that was ultimately fatal. Deciding
she was not going to die, the girl earned a couple more degrees as the
degenerating nerve disorder eroded her ability to control her own body
and she set about to find a cure. A cure was found, or so she
thought, but the girl knew by the time the FDA cleared it she would be
dead. So she did a very reckless, irresponsible thing and she
tested the cure on herself. The cure worked.
Only it did not. The cure only served to both
awaken her paranormal gene and to arrest her age. She was super
humanly strong, durable and agile, healed quickly from injury...and she
looked like she was perpetually fifteen years old.
The girl coped, went on with her life, became a
muscian, a doctor, a super hero. Then one day the girl was
captured by extradimensional invaders and cloned her. The plan
was to use clones of various heroes as plants in different super teams,
these clones would sabotage equipment and/or kill heroes. These
clones had all the memories of the originals and thought they were the
originals, and at the key moment would be remotely controlled by their
handlers. What prevented the Kinkaid clone from acting was the
fact her spine had been snapped by a super villain who had escaped from
The Hole, her connection had been severed. The real Kinkaid was
rescued by The Vindicators and confronted her double. While some
would have seen the clone as a violation, meeting her physically
traumatized double only made the original Kinkaid feel pity and she
came to defend her. In time she came to view the clone as a
sister, they became good friends.
The fact that they did not share similar tastes for men helped.
PERSONALITY: Not only does Clone Kinkaid have all the
emotional bagges inherent with her sister's memories, she also has to
deal with the fact she is not the original. She does not let this
get her down too much, however, as she realizes that as bad as her life
may seem, it could always be worse. Still, she often uses sarcasm
as a defense mechanism. Due to her unique conditions she has few
friends outside of the paranormal community, having alientated many
people over the years.
POWERS/SKILLS:
Teresa has the ability to quickly heal from any injury save one that
would
kill her outright. She has regenerated fingers, fully recovered
from
concussions and even survived exposure to a class IV virus. This
power is what holds her Nevison's Syndrome in check; it still sits in
her
cells, waiting for release. During those rare times when she has
suffered broken bones her body quickly resets them, no matter how much
it hurts.
Teresa is very strong and has
been classified a "brick" by Pure Power Plant scale (albeit at the
lower
end of that scale), and she is resistant to damage; she is able to
withstand
small arms fire without serious injury and can handle temperature
extremes
from the artic to Death Valley. This gives her a higher immunity
to heat and cold attacks, but not much. Her reflexes and agility
both are abnormally high and she has been able to incorporate her
advantages
into an eclectic and very effective fighting style that makes the most
of her speed and small size. She is able to leap great heights
and
distances, over a hundred yards straight up and up to a half a mile in
distance. She is able to maintain a sustained run up to thirty
miles per hour, with short bursts almost twice that, and swim
at almost ten knots. Teresa still needs to breath, but is able to
hold her breath for up to ten minutes provided she does not have exert
herself.
Teresa has excellent motor
control
and is able to use her strength to create hand holds in most
conventional
building materials. This is not something she can use in combat,
however.
Teresa is highly intelligent
and has a Doctorate in Genetics. She is also a talented chess
player,
a decent singer and can play a mean axe. She is also a pretty
good
dancer and loves to go to teen clubs to let loose.
She is fluent in French and Spanish.
EQUIPMENT: Teresa
was able to keep the rapid-deploy
glider wings from her costume, they are basically a cool looking
emergency
parachute. She carries an equipment belt complete with a compact
first aid kit with a portable medical scanner, a tool knife,
mini-binoculars,
a gas mask and a small flashlight. She also uses other equipment
when necessary. Most of this equipment is commonly available.
APPEARANCE: Teresa appears to be an attractive
fifteen-year old girl with a wiry build and stringy black hair with
large
black eyes. She stands five foot one inches tall and is sensitive
about her height. She has gone through several "costume phases"
but these days she simply wears durable leather in the field.
When in
civilian
clothes she tries to dress like an adult, but often comes off looking
even
more cute for her troubles. She does not need glasses (her vision
is now 20/10) but she wears them in a vain attempt to look more
dignified.
