STARSCRAPER

When Lionheart and Templar were summoned by a mage from another dimension to help fill his world's void for super heroes, the pair teamed up with other heroes and became The New Outsiders.  They employed a space station left in that Earth's orbit in the wake of the vortex that stole the missing heroes.

Mysteriously vacant, the Star Scraper appeared to come from an Earth some hundred or so years in the future, an Earth apparently without paranormals, with a minimum of alien influence.  The computers on the station contained the barest data; automated systems to maintain life support and the station's stable orbit, electronic manuals, etc.  A vast majority of surfaces were covered in protective plastic, food supplies and spare parts were minimal, and sections were depressurized.  Judging by this the best theory is that the station had been under construction and nearly completed.

The station was designed for a crew of twenty, with enought residential space for two thousand residents.  Machine shops and an infirmary, as well as advanced life support/recycling systems suggest that the station was to be primarily self sustaining.

The power source was a cold fusion reactor that provided the station with plenty of energy.  It was mounted at the bottom of the station and could be jettisoned in the event it's numerous failsafes do not function.  The station's long flat sections could be configured as solar panels to provide the station with emergency power.

The station also had an impressive electromagnetic shield system that was initially designed to protect the structure from impacts.  The station was also equipped with artificial gravity.  Later Brian Griffith used technology culled from that other dimension to set up a teleportation system that could allow people to transported instantly to almost any spot on the planet.

The Starscraper was destroyed by Lord Dread, all hands were lost.

Central control: From this room the entire station's status could be monitored. Life support, power allocation, internal security, all of it could be handled from here.

Hangar control: This room was where the Starscraper's primary hangar was monitored.  It is also where the base teleporters were regulated.
Computer mainframe: The computers in Star Scraper were impressive, although they were not as advanced as one may expect from a space station built a hundred years in the future.  Rather than going for processing power, the designers and programmers seemed to concentrate on physical durability, redundancy and software security.

Meeting room: Constructed for the staff, this room was designed to receive information from Central Control on station status as well as access any information from the computer.  Advanced communications equipment allowed for accessing information from various satellites as well as Earth-based communications systems, even those not designed for wireless access.

Private quarters: A station designed to house some two thousand inhabitants, Star Scraper had plenty of living space.  One, two, and three bedroom suites were all found here, all apportioned luxuriously.  Each contained it's own shower, toilet, bedroom(s) and living room as well as kitchens in the largest suites.  Those in smaller suites would have eaten in public food courts.

The shuttles: The Starscraper was equipped with five multi-purpose shuttles that were designed for helping the crew enact external repairs, provide transportation to other space borne bodies and to affect emergency evacuations.  All were identical and are very easy to fly both in space an in atmosphere. While not very maneuverable they were very rugged and possessed sensor capabilities comparable to advanced fighter craft.

Each shuttle was capable of evacuating up to thirty people in an emergency.
