Real name: Herbert Montague

Background:  Herbert, or H-bomb to the online community, was a gamer and hacker of legend in the late 90’s.  When a new game would come out, Herbert would obsess over it until his was the high score to beat.  His was always the high score to beat.  He finished high school in 98 with honors and soon landed a high profile job as a security architect for a leading internet technology company.

Herbert worked nights and attended college during the day – a life that had so far left him feeling empty and unsatisfied.  During his evening position he would often chat on message boards about his previous triumphs in an attempt to bring back just a sliver of his past glory.  It was during one of those nights that he made first contact.

It started out as most online friendships do; a series of questions and answers traded between the two over the course of a couple of months.  Recently, his chat partner offered Herbert a chance to go back to his glory days by being on the ground floor of some ‘next level shit’.  It was an offer that was quickly acted upon.

The college student didn’t realize that the individual he had established a friendship with wasn’t a person, rather an artificial intelligence that operated an orbiting space ship.  Herb was teleported to the ship via a corridor of light where the A.I. met him and began to explain.  The ship was a CORONA class research vessel that had been in orbit for the last 35 years gathering vital data on Earth and its inhabitants.  The three man crew had teleported to earth about a decade prior for fact verification and never returned.  As a result the ship had started making forays to Earth by using the internet in order to locate its missing crew.

With no hope left, the ship offered its newfound associate the means to assist it in searching for the missing crew – to become a living extension of the vessel.  Herbert was excited and readily agreed to the offer.  The transition was excruciating.  Organic parts were implanted while other organs were harvested to make room; all without use of anesthesia of any kind.  What the ship lacked in organic vat grown parts it made up for in machinery.  Diodes and chips were grafted to work in tandem with the organic parts to make them more efficient and power independent.

In the end the student looked like a hideous amalgamation of science and experimentation.  To conceal his new hideous form, the ship provided him a thin but surprisingly resilient exoskeleton.  A holographic generator provided him with the outward appearance he was used to.

Slide is currently working for a secret organization known as The Reapers.

Appearance: Slide’s appearance resembles very closely to a man in his late 20’s with a video game themed t-shirt and scraggly visage.  He’s slightly unkempt looking preferring comfort over function.  When he removes the holographic projection, he looks like a humanoid with an elongated head and no facial features.  The suit is a metallic green.

Abilities:  Herbert is a computer whiz and has great hand eye coordination.  He has a second year college education so is fairly well reasoned and utilize critical thinking skills.

Powers:
Teleportation.  Herbert’s primary power is teleporting of himself and others through the ship’s teleportation powers.
Fast Healing.  Herbert’s exoskeleton works diligently to repair organic and inorganic matter as it becomes damaged and therefore useless.
Energy blasts.  Herbert’s suit contains organic plasma generators allowing him to fire energy blasts from his forearms.  Overuse of these blasters causes them to go dormant as the suit repairs the damaged and overworked cells.
