BACKGROUND: Mark had been a soldier in the United States Army who lost his forearms and legs during an ambush of his unit's convoy.  Embittered, he spent months in the hospital recovering from his injuries, the prospect of life as a helpless cripple before him.  He was approached by a private corporation looking for a suitable guinea pig for their cybernetics experiments.  Mark agreed and after almost a year of painful operations he had been turned into a lethal killing machine.  Mark looked forward to re-joining the US Army as a special operative, but he discovered that the corporation had gone bankrupt and he was going to lose his modifications in the ensuing chapter eleven litigation.

Screw that, Mark said.  When the military refused to help he fled and decided to go freelance.

POWERS/SKILLS: Scalpel is a cyborg with powerful legs that allow him to sprint for short bursts of speed and leap for well over a dozen yards.  His forearms are also cybernetic and afford him great gripping power.  His fingers can retract and be replaced by a series of wicked blades constructed of a very strong steel alloy.

Scalpel's skin has a durable sub-dermal layer at least as tough as kevlar.  His skeletal system is re-inforced by a steel weave that makes the bones very hard to break.

Scalpel is a trained soldier and was a communications specialist.  He has an effective hand-to-hand style that takes advantage of both his gripping power and lethal blades.
