BACKGROUND: Joseph watched the summoning ritual with no small degree of fascination.  To be allowed to assist a Master in the Calling of an extra dimensional being was a symbol of trust as well as an acknowledgment of his skills and discipline.  Only nineteen, he has risen quickly in the ranks of the Sargasso clan and hoped to rise much higher before his thirtieth birthday.  Still, he had wished the summons had not been on such short notice; he had to fly out from London to Chicago and he had been right in the middle of the third act of Cats.  But he knew that was another test, to see if he would still drop everything to answer a summons so of course he did.  A pity; he thought the woman playing Bombalurina was particularly fetching and he was sure he could have gotten a date with her after the show.

Master Saraman completed the initial chant, opening a portal to a higher dimension where beings of great power resided.  The pentagram acted as a natural barrier that would insure his and the Master's safety until the summoning and binding portions of the ritual were done.  Saraman began the chant of summoning...

The being was formless, or at least was formless to the mundane five senses lesser beings were limited to.  It drifted through its dimension, feeding off the energies that were swept amongst the extra dimensional eddies and currents of its world.  It had little memory, save distant echoes of experiences when it had been summoned to the lower planes.

There were more powerful creatures on this plane but they neither bothered with such a lowly being as It nor had to fear such silly things as summoning or binding spells.  They went about their business and when such a spell tugged at the little creature they hardly gave it a moment's notice...

Joseph saw the doorway open, extra dimensional energies spilled out and ignited the air with a corollas effect.  A being of energy slipped through the doorway, it seemed to be resisting the pull like a swimmer resisting the tide.  The energy made the air shimmer, Joseph could not get a good look at it.  He was about to ask Master Saraman what form it would take before he began the chant of binding when he heard noises.  It was the distinctive crack! of eldritch energies striking mystic shields.  There were curses, screams, more discharges.

They were under attack.

Saraman glanced over his shoulder, it was a testament to his great will and talent that he was able to do so without losing the creature, "Do you know the spell of binding?" he asked.

Joseph stared.  To admit that would be to admit that he had studied ahead of what was permitted.  Was this all some elaborate test to draw him out?

"Yes," he said.  The Family came first.  If this was not a test then Saraman would need to know the truth.

"Bind it," he called out, "I will buy you time."

"But..."

"Damn it, if this is a full-scale invasion then you cannot buy me the time needed.  But I can for you.  Now take my place and bind it!"

Joseph nodded, he stepped forward and held his palms and fingers out in the proper position.  As he chanted Master Saraman nodded and dashed off, spells of combat murmured on his lips...

It sensed the binding and tried to resist, but while the being binding It was weaker the chants were older than either of them, forcing It to obey laws older than Time itself.  It felt Itself being bound to this lower plane, into another form.  The form coalesced, and more coherent thoughts formed...

Joseph stared at the being before him.  It was definitely female, but it resembled one of the members of Cats, with her sinuous tail and auburn and tan skin and fur.  It...she opened her eyes, revealing unnaturally vivid and powerful green irises with split pupils.  She yawned as clawed thumbs found her nipples, she gave a surprised gasp at that.  After a momentary inspection of her full breasts she ran her fingers through her thick mane.  She purred and stretched.  Despite the seriousness of the situation Joseph felt an erection coming on.

She sensed her new Master nearby and smiled at him.  She vaguely remembered earlier shapes, more threatening shapes, less enjoyable shapes.  This one contained numerous pleasures she would enjoy, as well as its share of power.  She would enjoy this tenure, yes indeed...

"Hello, Master," she purred.  She smiled as she saw his erection, scented his arousal.  Yes, she would enjoy being his very much.

SIX MONTHS LATER...

Joseph sighed as he leaned against the railing of his balcony.  The evening was cool but not uncomfortably so and it felt good against his bare flesh.  High Justice was due to convene in an hour or so but he felt no rush.  Behind him Felis stirred, padded silently behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist from behind as she rested her body against his.  The soft purr sent electric shivers through his skin and he felt himself responding again.

"No," he said gently, gently touching her hands, "I have to go soon."

"Time for that silly meeting with your friends?" she replied.  She let him go but not before claws teasingly traced along his skin. "Be sure and give Lionheart my love."

Grimoire turned around and stared down into her captivating eyes.  In the past insane six months she had been with him as he butted heads with his clan, became a "super hero" and then a member of High Justice.  And through it all he had found himself falling deeper and deeper in love with her.  She could never reciprocate her knew; she was bound to him through magic and could not be freed until his death.  He kissed her tenderly on the forehead, wishing he could free her.

She hugged him and playfully nibbled on his shoulder.  Apparently she was trying to goad him into giving her a spanking.  He was about to playfully smack her bottom when she quietly said, "I have a confession to make."

"A confession?" he echoed.  If she had seduced the maid again...

"Remember when you bound me to you?"

"...Yes."

"You mis-spoke the chant of binding."

"...I what?"

Felis stared up at him, her smile was absolutely wicked, "You mis-spoke the spell of binding.  I am not bound to you.  At least, not by magic."

He was speechless, almost hypnotized by her eyes.

"I love you," she breathed, her arms encircling his waist again.

Grimoire was very late for his meeting.

Years later, Felisomballa had been corrupted by the Tandians and used against Grimoire and High Justice.  She was slain during the Extra Dimensional Invasion.  In the years since Grimoire has gone into semi-retirement.

PERSONALITY: Grimoire is a highly moral man who feels strongly about employing his powers for positive ends.  the collection of knowledge or power for its own sake is to his mind foolish.  It is this attitude that has caused him to often feud with his clan.  Becoming a super hero had been an accident; he had been in disguise to infiltrate a Graves clan gathering.  He was discovered, the battle spilled out into the normal world, innocents were about to be harmed and he intervened.  Before he knew it he was adopting a persona as Grimoire and Felisomballa became his sexy and incredibly popular sidekick.

Grimoire is reluctant to lead and prefers to advise.  This he feels is a character flaw, one he has tried to reconcile.

Since Felis' death at his hands Grimoire has vowed to never give up his search of the sorcerer who bound and turned her against him and her friends.

POWERS: Grimoire possesses a truly vast array of mystical powers that allow him to do almost anything you can imagine short of cheating death, altering the orbit of the Earth or traveling through time.  His powers are limited by his strength of will and his concentration, and the more spells he has active the less powerful his overall might is.  Grimoire is also limited by the ambient magical force in an area; he has virtually no power in orbit, while he is most powerful near ley lines and power nexuses.

Grimoire is vulnerable to conventional means of death, which is why he always has an array of defensive charms about himself and Felis.  This reduces his overall power, but a dead sorcerer cannot cast spells.

APPEARANCE: Joseph is an attractive man with black hair and blue eyes.  He stands six feet tall and has a moderately toned build.  As Grimoire he instantly grows a thick white beard, causes his hair to turn white and develops forty years worth of wrinkles.  A stylish black suit, fedora and trench coat as well as stylish shades completes the picture.

PERSONALITY: The words "sex kitten" summed up Felis very much.  A complete hedonist, she lived to have fun, especially if it involved sex.  Bi-sexual, she was devoted to Grimoire and would do anything for him.

Over the years Felis had almost unwillingly developed interests outside of sex.  She loved Robert A. Heinlein novels, the Law & Order television series and was a Magic, The Gathering CCG junkie.  Her other hobby was to collect girl friends. Her greatest goal was to bag Lionheart, but she had never been successful.

In the end, Felis had become enslaved to some unknown sorcerer who was able to use her unbound nature against Grimoire and High Justice.  She died at Grimoire's hands as she attempted to take the lives of innocents.

POWERS: As a familiar Felisomballa had a wide variety of powers.  In this form she was highly agile and fast, possessed animal level senses and had very strong claws that combined with her heightened strength could easily cut through brick or bone.  She was highly resistant to conventional forms of damage and had a pre natural sense to both danger and the forces of magic.

Felisomballa could also act as a conduit for Grimoire's magical forces, so he could cast a spell through her even at a great distance.  The most common one was a spell of disguise so she could walk among humans undetected.

APPEARANCE: Felisomballa appeared like a living member of the cast of Cats.  Parts of her body were covered by a fine coat of fur that blended perfectly with auburn or tan skin as well as a sinuous tail and a thick mane of hair.  She possessed a high firm pair of breasts, graceful legs and a perfectly toned body.  She stood only five foot four but always walked on the balls of her feet so she appeared to be taller.

Felis hated to wear clothes but when necessary she usually wore loose sweat pants with a hole cut for her tail and a sports bra.
